Champions Hockey Academy

As adult leage hockey players, most of us use hockey as an escape from our daily routines. We get to have fun with friends, play the sport we love, and have some friendly competition. For many, this is enough. However, for those wanting to take your game a little further, what more can you ask for than a week of coaching by professional hockey players?

The Champions Hockey Academy is coming to the Bucs Arena June 8th through 12th. There will be 10 hours of on ice instruction over the 5 day camp as well as an optional warm up before. They will work on skating, stops and starts, puck handling, shooting, positional play, and more. There will even be video analysis for several of the drills.

Pros include Marty Wilford, John Tripp, Colin Beardsmore, Paul Jerrard, Mark Cinq-Mars, Ryan Ready, and Matt Climie. The cost for adults is $215. No More Sharpening at PS

As most of you know, I took over sharpening skates for Joe at PS Sports Zone in December. I have enjoyed doing it and always stived to give players the best sharpen in town. However, I realize that it wasn't very convenient for everyone with me only sharpening for a few hours twice a week. With youth hockey seasons ending, the sharpening business has fallen off quite sharply. Sadly, there just isn't enough business to keep doing it.

As of May 1st, I will no longer be sharpening skates at PS. Thursday, April 30th will be my last day sharpening. I want to thank everyone that trusted me with their skates and for bringing me their business.

Bucs Rec League

Thanks to Derek Hickey at KGGO Arena, C level players in Des Moines have another place to play some hockey. The inagural 4 team, 12 game season will be starting the end of April on Wednesday nights. If you didn't get in this season, rumor has it that there will be more leagues starting this winter at the rink.

I will be keeping the Bucs League stats on this website. I will keep them as up to date as possible, but please let me know if you see any errors.
